Paula Raley, LCSW
Clinical Director

Paula Raley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She obtained her Masters degree in Social Work from New Mexico State University. She has a background in working with families, family reunification, and early childhood interventions. Her special areas of interests include, depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting, relationship issues and addiction. She provides individual, couples, and family therapy for children, adolescents and adults from a family systems perspective.

As a family structural therapist she takes an active and engaged approach with her clients. She utilizes support, education, and the therapeutic relationship to work with her clients to experience the healing, change and growth they desire. She also believes her clients personal growth will positively impact systemic change within the individual’s family and other interpersonal relationships. Paula is certified in Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) protocol.

Debra Dederich-Elsner, LPCC

Debra is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Anthropology from St. Norbert College and completed her Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Lakeland University in Wisconsin. Debra has experience working with individuals with mood disorders, anxiety, anger management, ADHD, and depression. She also has a passion for working with children and adolescents in which she incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy and Play Therapy to help address communication and behavioral issues. Debra believes in the strengths and qualities of each of her clients, encouraging them to positively grow and develop in a safe therapeutic setting. Debra is certified in Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) protocol.

Renee Carrillo, Clinical Intern

Renee is a Master Social Worker, who earned her Bachelor’s Degree from New Mexico Highlands University Facundo Valdez School of Social Work and recently graduated with her Master’s Degree from New Mexico Highlands University Facundo Valdez School of Social Work on May 11, 2020. Renee’s social work program concentration is NMHU’s one-of-a-kind Bilingual/Bicultural Master’s Program equipping her to provide services in both English and Spanish. Renee’s clinical experience includes working with intimate partner violence, grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, and crisis intervention with children and adolescents. Renee’s passion is to provide culturally competent and linguistically relevant care to the community she serves and altering the stigma that surrounds mental health. Renee is certified in Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) protocol.

Renee recientemente se graduó con su Maestría de la Escuela de Trabajo Social Facundo Valdez de la Universidad de New Mexico Highlands el 11 de Mayo de 2020. Renee obtuvo su licenciatura de la Escuela de Trabajo Social Facundo Valdez de la Universidad de New Mexico Highlands también La concentración del programa de trabajo social de Renee es el único programa de maestría bilingüe / bicultural de NMHU que la equipa para ofrecer servicios en inglés y español. La experiencia clínica de Renee incluye trabajar con violencia de pareja íntima, experiencia apoyando a personas pasando por dolor/sufrimiento, trauma, depresión, ansiedad e intervención en crisis con niños y adolescentes. La pasión de Renee es ofrecer servicios que son culturalmente competente y lingüísticamente relevante a la comunidad a la que sirve y alterar el estigma que rodea la salud mental. Renee está certificada en el protocolo Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM).

Stacey Marentes-Arvizo, LMHC

Stacey is a bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of New Mexico. Stacey completed her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in child and adolescent treatment from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She uses various therapeutic modalities including: cognitive-behavioral therapy, person-centered approaches, and play therapy (including Theraplay). Areas of special interest include: cultural difficulties, parenting concerns, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Stacey is certified in Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) protocol.

Stacey es una consejera licenciada de salud mental. Obtuvo su licenciatura de psicología de la Universidad de Nuevo Mexico. Stacey completó su maestría en consejeria psícologica con una concentración en el tratamiento de niños y adolescentes de la Escuela de Psicología Profesional de Chicago. Ella usa varias modalidades terapéuticas que incluyen: terapia cognitiva-conductual, enfoques centrados en la persona y terapia de juego (incluyendo Theraplay). Las áreas de interés especial incluyen: dificultades culturales, preocupaciones de los padres, depresión, ansiedad y trauma. Stacey está certificada en el protocolo Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM).

Christina John, LCSW

Christine John is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Sociology from the University of New Mexico and completed her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work at New Mexico Highlands University. Christine has a background in school social work as well as family reunification and has also provided services in both an inpatient and intensive outpatient hospital setting. Christine is certified in Play Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy and has experience working with trauma, abuse, behavior disorders, depression, anxiety, and family therapy. Christine also incorporates other therapeutic modalities into her practice including cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques.

Caroline Valverde, Clinical Intern

Caroline is a recent Masters Level Clinical Intern, who graduated in May 2020 from Grand Canyon University. She has earned two Masters degrees (Master of Science in Psychology from University of Phoenix (2013) and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University). Caroline works to establish a warm and welcoming environment for the clients she serves to encourage a safe space for healing and personal growth. Caroline’s clinical experience includes depression, anxiety, and trauma. She loves helping clients learn valuable skills to help them make positive adjustments in all aspects of their lives. Caroline is certified in Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) protocol.
